The Princess and the Thief 1

Full Title: Upon Encountering a Trap in the Sky Library

Story: Having made their way to the legendary Cloud Palace, our duo stumbles upon the Sky Library, which is said to contain a copy of every book ever written. The princess runs happily from shelf to towering shelf, announcing that they cannot leave until she reads every volume.

"Shh!" says the thief. "Do you hear that?"

For a moment they are silent. Then, from faraway, they hear a cat crying out. Perplexed, they wander the mile-long aisles, slowly homing in on the source until, at the very center of the enormous room, they spot a dirty black cat sitting on a stone pedestal.

"I haven't seen anything edible since we got here," says the princess. "I wonder how it survives?"

She scoops the cat into her arms and gasps at the small blue book lying beneath it.

"See the symbol on the cover?" she cries. "Th-that could only be St. Horatio's Holy Book!"

The thief grins. "Sounds like it's worth something. Let's borrow it and not give it back."

The instant the book is removed from its pedestal, a terrible grinding sound echoes through the library. The cat yowls and makes a run for it, but it's too late. The tile floor crumbles away beneath them and they find themselves free falling far above the ocean.
